PromoMania IX (2024)
The 2024 PromoMania, promoted as PromoMania IX is the upcoming 9th annual PromoMania
special event produced by Max Wrestling Podcast. It will take place over two days on the final Tuesday and Thursday before WWE's WrestleMania event on April 2nd and 4th.The event will be hosted by The Captain and Moses Marquez. It will be the 53rd Max Wrestling special event. BackgroundPromoMania - much like its WWE counterpart - is treated as Max Wrestling's biggest event of the year. It has been an annual Max Wrestling Podcast special event held in March or April since 2016. It is one of Max Wrestling's original five events and is held to coincide with WWE's WrestleMania. The 2018 edition introduced the Iron Bank Challenge, guaranteeing the winner a year to book themselves in any match of their choice, and has remained a PromoMania tradition ever since. Since 2023, PromoMania has become a two-part event.
In the run-up to Leap Of Faith, Beer challenged The Phoenix to a TV Rules match to determine a #1 contender for the Knowledge Championship. Beer initially believed he was facing Phoenix at Christmas Clash, but his opponent was revealed to be Travis Anderson. Phoenix defeated Beer, earning a shot at Tedd P Dinero at PromoMania - coincidentally a rematch from last year's PromoMania VIII where Dinero defeated Phoenix in a promo bout. Early in 2024, Beer became a target of glitches and hacking during his appearances on Max Wrestling. It was later revealed to be the actions of Anon Mascaras - the unidentified masked assailant which targeted Moses Marquez last year. At Podcast Promo Rumble 9, Mascaras cost Beer the Max World Championship by attacking him at home during his promo. After more taunting, Beer came to the conclusion that Mascaras is actually Travis Anderson, and challenged him to a match at PromoMania. Mascaras accepted the challenge on Anderson's behalf, and vowed that if they are indeed the same person, he will unmask. In December 2023, after Travis Anderson joined Dragon Club, The Captain attempted to bring gold to the group by teaming Phoenix and Chad Malcolm to challenge for the Tag Team Championships. Malcolm refused, instead opting to challenge for the Television Championship - which was held by The Captain at the time - at PromoMania IX. Soon after, The Captain lost the Television Championship to Anderson at Podcast Promo Rumble 9. Following Anderson's successful defence against Chris Reid at Leap Of Faith, Moses Marquez immediately cashed in his Iron Bank contract. Marquez cut a short promo, knowing Anderson was not live on the show, expecting to win by forfeit. However, Anderson expected the cash-in and sent in a promo directed at Marquez. Due to the questionable method of cashing in, and Anderson going over on time, the decision was made a week later - after Malcolm used his "Lawyer" skills to read through the contract - that Marquez was the rightful winner. On the 9th Anniversary episode, it was announced that Daniel Crimmins had chosen "his last ride" against Robert Davis in a promo exhibition, signifying his retirement from promo competition. As both are members of Max's sister-group, The TSK, the match was labelled as a "TSK Takeover" of PromoMania. On the same episode, a promo aired showing Tedd P Dinero stalking Cypher, before Marquez announced the "the real leader of the MDO" has demanded Dinero be named Cypher's challenger for the World Championship at PromoMania. Cypher accepted the challenge, having already defeated the rest of the group. The Captain also cut a promo on this episode, accepting Chris Reid's challenge for a match on March 28th, and also issuing an open challenge against him at PromoMania. MatchesNight 1
