As announced on this week's Max Wrestling #384, the long-standing tradition of holding a Pre-Launch Show two days prior to a special event is no more. However, it was also announced that PromoMania VIII in 2023 would now be a two-night event. In addition, the previously announced dates for PromoMania IX and X were also extended to two-nights. This ties into WrestleMania becoming a two-night event in recent years. PromoMania was also the first Max Wrestling event to receive a pre-show, beginning with the inaugural PromoMania in 2016. This first pre-show was more of a behind-the-scenes presentation of the team interacting with guests before the show.
PromoMania II also received a pre-show in 2017, which featured a preview of the main show and Kinny Killa's WrestleMania predictions as he was unable to make the main show. In 2018, the pre-show to PromoMania III again featured Kinny's WrestleMania predictions as well as everyone's NXT Takeover predictions.
From Promo Series 3: Lethal Games that year onwards, every event came accompanied by a pre-show. They became known as a Countdown show for PromoMania IV in 2019, before being renamed The Pre-Launch Show the following year for PromoMania V. As Fight For The Knowledge in 2022 did not come with a Pre-Launch Show, it meant Trivia Takeover: Lucky Number 7 was the last to do so.
Speaking on the show, The Captain said "It's just difficult to schedule a Pre-Launch Show." The shows were typically recorded on the Monday before the events and produced on Tuesdays, and recordings outside of the usual Thursday time slot have proven more difficult since The Captain became a father - as evidenced by the recent Ring Of Games Cup.
Having PromoMania as a two-night event makes it feel bigger and more special, as it should stand out as our premiere event of the year. No decision has yet been made on next year's Trivia Takeover - which traditionally splits the Champion's Chase between the pre-show and main show. The main event for PromoMania VIII was already set at this year's PromoMania VII when Daniel Crimmins announced he would cash in his Iron Bank contract to face The Demoness in a promo exhibition - waving his right to a title match. The match has been confirmed to take place as the main event on Night 2.
Daniel Crimmins vs. The Demoness has already been announced as the main event for PromoMania VIII - Night 2.
