Trivia Takeover part 9: Trivia Goes To Hell (2024)
The 2024 Trivia Takeover, promoted as Part 9: Trivia Goes To Hell was the ninth annual Trivia Takeover special event produced by Max Wrestling Podcast. It took place on Thursday the 13th of June, although was delayed to air until June 14th. Unlike all over Max Wrestling events, Trivia Takeover is not tied to any particular pay-per-view. The event was be hosted by The Captain and Moses Marquez. It was the 55th Max Wrestling special event.
BackgroundTrivia Takeover has been an annual Max Wrestling Podcast special event held in June since 2016 - though it was held once in July in 2021. It is one of Max Wrestling's original five events and is the only special event not to coincide with any WWE or AEW pay-per-view. The original event edition featured the launch of the Knowledge Championship, which has remained Max Wrestling's longest-running championship since.
After announcing he had gained full creative control of Max Wrestling in a deal with The Captain following Full House, Anon Mascaras announced Beer would have a shot at The Phoenix's Knowledge Championship. Mascaras also promised not to interfere, despite his recent rivalry with Beer. On the same episode, Travis Anderson made his return since being taken out of his TV Title match with Chad Malcolm, to demand Mascaras give him "what he wants". Mascaras later responded, understanding what Anderson was alluding to, and booked Anderson and Cypher to challenge Beer and Moses Marquez for the Tag Team Titles. Chris Reid made his full episode debut at Full House, where he failed to defeat The Phoenix for the Knowledge Title. But after earning a bye in the King Of The Mic tournament by previously defeating The Captain in an exhibition at Podcast Promo Rumble 9, Reid issued a challenge to face either Cypher or Moses Marquez at Trivia Takeover - whoever lose to the other in the King Of The Mic tournament. Charisma will make his official debut as he faces The Phoenix in the King Of The Mic tournament. Charisma was originally seen torturing The Kingpin in his match against Cypher at Leap Of Faith. Charisma's apparent advocate Rodney Slabbovitch then debuted at PromoMania and warned Max Wrestling of an oncoming "monster", before entering Charisma's dressing room. The winner will advance to the semi-finals to face Chris Reid. EventThe event began with the King Of The Mic first round match between The Phoenix and Charisma. The match was ruled as a tie when Charisma only spoke for 2 seconds, but his manager spoke for over 3 minutes - a longer time than The Phoenix. The Captain therefore ruled that they would both compete again in the semi-finals against Chris Reid in a triple-threat match.
Mike Larkin appeared, laying down a challenge for Chad Malcolm's Television Championship at Money Shot. The match was instantly made official by Anon Mascaras, who also announced that all TV Rules promos must now be at least 3 minutes, to ensure Malcolm could not cheat the system again by going incredibly short to win by DQ. Mascaras also appeared later on to announce that the Champion's Mountain match (last seen at Trivia Takeover 8) would return at Money Shot for the Knowledge Championship. Cypher and Travis Anderson officially teamed up for the first time to win the Max Tag Team Championships, as they were due to face Dragon Club for the inaugural titles, but Anderson was written off due to sickness. In what was supposed to be an exhibition between Chris Reid and Moses Marquez, Marquez used his tracker gimmick to hunt Reid down, but Reid did not show up to face Marquez. Instead, it was Travis Anderson, adopting his new persona as "The Coach", vowing to guide Reid. In the main event, Beer came up short against The Phoenix in 3 Stages Of Knowledge, and as a result lost the eligibility to compete for the Knowledge Championship for two years. Matches
